Lesley Sharp, Barbara Chamberlain & Helen Chamberlain Josefsberg '30 Professor of Anthropology, will serve as an invited speaker at the Annual Bioethics Conference 2018 organized by the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School. This year's conference is entitled "Defining Death: Organ transplantation and the 50-year legacy of the Harvard Report on brain death."

Prof. Sharp is one of few social scientists, and even fewer women, at the conference, among a cohort of bioethicists, transplant surgeons, and lab researchers. She will present her paper "The Other Animal of Transplant's Future," speaking to her specialist knowledge on xenotransplantation, the use of animals as sources to replace failing human organs in sickly patients.
