Brittany Fletcher, a Barnard Anthropology major, has won a national award from the Society for American Archaeology. Brittany's paper, entitled  "Processing Personhood: Middle Woodland Mounds and Mortuary Activity in the Lower Illinois River Valley," was the result of her original osteological analyses conducted as part of Dr. Jane Buikstra's Bioarchaeology Field School (Arizona State University) as well as an expanded theorization of mortuary and cosmological systems in the Illinois River Valley during the Middle Woodland period. Brittany will receive her award at the business meeting of the Society for American Archaeology in Washington D.C. this April.
